'Tis So Sweet!

Isaiah 31:1–32:20

In this world—seemingly so often filled with pain, suffering, trouble, terror, with death and the constant threat of non-being—can we find hope? Is there any true hope? Is our only confidence and expectation and security and comfort to be found at last in our little minds and skills and techniques, in what we can control and manage and understand? Because if that’s all, then there’s no hope, really. Our hope has to come from outside of us and this world, and it has to be more than alien technology or some super man. True hope, especially in the face of an enemy like death, is found only in the God who lives—who has the power of being in himself—and who saves his people, who is all the salvation we ever need.
